Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Antibody Engineering
Ohana Biosciences is seeking an innovative Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to drive cutting-edge science in the field of reproductive biology.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a passion to apply biophysical techniques to drug discovery in support of our mission to transform the field of reproductive medicine.
The Research Associate/Senior Research Associate will report to our Senior Scientist and will produce, screen, and characterize antibodies for structural and mechanistic studies. The candidate will be expected to work on a variety of protein engineering projects using cutting-edge antibody technology to optimize and generate leads for Ohana’s therapeutic and fertility programs.

What You’ll Do
Execute protein expression of various antigens and antibodies in mammalian and E. coli expression systems
Execute protein purification using a variety of different methods
Conduct biophysical characterization of antibody candidates using SPR, DSF, DLS, etc.
Perform protein crystallization screening and optimization of crystallization conditions using automated liquid handling
Support the evaluation of new platform technologies
Work both collaboratively and independently to design, plan and execute experiments that support research activities, project goals, and platform development
Serve as a key contributor to the discovery and development of new technologies that will transform the field of reproductive medicine
What Skills You’ll Bring
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (biochemistry, biophysics, molecular and cell biology, or similar field). Experience working in a bio-pharmaceutical industry preferred
Experience with bacteria and/or mammalian culture
Previous use of manual and automated purification instrumentation
Proficiency in biochemical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and ELISA
Experience with binding techniques (SPR, Octet etc.), protein stability assays, display technologies, or crystallography a plus
Eagerness to learn new techniques, and comfort asking questions and seeking clarity
Collaborative attitude with a strong work ethic and self-motivation
Ability to think critically and creatively as part of a fast-paced research team, while being highly independent and self-motivated
Comfort handling parallel tasks and large datasets, and delivering within fast-paced deadlines
