Lab Operations Manager

Ohana Biosciences is seeking an experienced Lab Operations Manager to help us drive cutting-edge science in the field of reproductive biology.

As Laboratory Operations Manager, you will partner closely with our scientists to ensure smooth operations of our laboratory and provide general support for ongoing studies in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Communicate proactively to foster a culture of collaboration and responsibility for shared resources

  • Implement and maintain processes to manage common lab supplies, stock inventory, and order lab consumables

  • Oversee lab equipment purchases, including price negotiation, purchasing, and installation

  • Coordinate and ensure proper maintenance and repair of lab equipment

  • Oversee planning and set-up of new lab equipment and lab spaces

  • Oversee lab safety and regulatory compliance, including tracking of chemicals and hazardous materials and enforcing PPE policy and laboratory safety rules

  • Conduct safety and best practices training for all lab personnel

  • Manage & support a shared on-site vivarium

  • Develop, implement, and manage record keeping systems for MTAs, service contracts, and other documentation

  • Assist project teams with ongoing operational needs

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred) and 4+ years of relevant experience working in lab management or scientific operations

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Experience working with external vendors and CROs

  • Experience optimizing and centralizing processes across groups

  • Experience with permitting, training, and reporting requirements as set forth by local, state, and federal regulations

  • Ability to troubleshoot, solve difficult problems, and propose solutions relating to lab organization and management

  • Agility: ability to work in a high energy organization with evolving goals and deliverables, merging priorities from across the company

  • Results Orientation: you are self-motivated, curious, and able accomplish goals with autonomy and minimal oversight

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, ability to work well with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures

  • Authenticity: you are able to voice opinion and provide insight to the broader team, even when holding a minority or “out of the box” opinion. You welcome input from a cross-functional team while remaining the expert in your area.

  • High level of adaptability and responsiveness to technical and business opportunities and needs

  • Comfort handling parallel tasks and large datasets, and delivering within fast-paced deadlines
