Senior Research Associate

Ohana Biosciences is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Senior Research Associate with expertise in cell and molecular biology and assay development to play a vital role in the company’s efforts to advance the field of reproductive medicine.

Ohana is pioneering a new frontier in reproductive medicine.  Built upon a world-leading understanding of sperm biology, Ohana has created a best-in-class proprietary platform with broad applications across reproductive medicine. Ohana is developing field defining new products to improve sperm quality and function to address infertility, prevent inherited disease, and produce a long-acting, reversible, non-hormonal male contraceptive.

What You’ll Do

  • Work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to design, plan and execute experiments that support research activities, project goals, and platform development

  • Serve as a key contributor to the development of new technologies in reproductive medicine

  • Implement existing Ohana technologies and develop novel assays with little or no supervision

What Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a biological science or related science field.

  • 3-5 years (Master’s) or 7-10 years (Bachelor’s) in the bio-pharmaceutical industry

  • Proven hands-on experience with cell-based and biochemical assays with a variety of readout technologies, such as, but not limited to: flow cytometry, Western Blot, ELISA, and immunofluorescence

  • Hands-on experience in cell culture and characterization of cells from human and animal tissues

  • Experience with independently generating and analyzing data, including basic statistical analyses

  • Familiarity with binding assays (SPR or related techniques) to determine antibody affinity

  • Experience with transiently expressing recombinant proteins in HEK293 or CHO cells preferred

  • Team-oriented, highly motivated, execution-focused attitude with strong work ethic and ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary environment

  • High level of adaptability and responsiveness to technical and business opportunities and needs

  • Comfort delivering against challenging commitments

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment

  • Ability to think critically and creatively as part of a fast-paced research team, while being highly independent and self-motivated

  • Strong oral and written communication skills a plus
