Research Associate, Epigenetics

Ohana Biosciences is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Research Associate with expertise in animal handling and molecular biology to play a vital role in our efforts to advance the field of reproductive medicine.  

The Research Associate will play a significant role in the company’s efforts to develop in vivo models for better understanding reproductive disorders. The Research Associate will have wide-ranging responsibilities and tremendous opportunities within a dynamic, enthusiastic, highly interdisciplinary, and collaborative team.

Ohana is pioneering a new frontier in reproductive medicine.  Built upon a world-leading understanding of sperm biology, Ohana has created a best-in-class proprietary platform with broad applications across reproductive medicine. Ohana is developing field defining new products to improve sperm quality and function, to address infertility, prevent inherited disease, and produce a long-acting, reversible, non-hormonal male contraceptive.

What You’ll Do

  • Work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to design, plan and execute experiments that support research activities, project goals, and platform development.

  • Participate in ongoing basic science, in vitro and in vivo model development, biocompatibility, and translational studies.

  • Collect and accurately record procedures and results, maintain databases used in the lab, order necessary reagents to conduct experiments, participate in joint upkeep of the lab, and in the design and modification of research protocols and methods.

  • Perform basic animal husbandry as well as in vivo experimentation with mostly rodent models.

  • Implement existing Ohana technologies and assist in developing novel assays.

What Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or related science field, and 1-5 years of experience in a biological laboratory setting.

  • Laboratory skills, including rodent handling and surgery; functional, histological, and molecular biology analyses.

  • Experience in reproductive or metabolic disease rodent models preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Strong work ethic and focus on execution.

  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary environment.

  • High level of adaptability and responsiveness to technical and business opportunities and needs.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to think critically and creatively as part of a fast-paced research team, while being highly independent and self-motivated.
