Ohana Biosciences is seeking an innovative and versatile Director of Discovery Biology to lead a talented team of scientists in driving cutting-edge science in the field of reproductive biology.
What You’ll Do
Lead early stage research focused on identifying novel mechanisms to improve success of assisted reproduction and prevent transmission of diseases from fathers to children
Manage, develop, and inspire a talented team of scientists across levels
Work both collaboratively and independently to design, plan and execute strategies that support research activities, project goals, and platform development with a keen eye to prioritization
Learn and implement new experimental techniques and approaches that can answer critical scientific questions to inform go/no go decisions
Develop and manage relationships and collaborations with key academic experts
Serve as a key contributor to the discovery and development of new innovations that will transform the field of reproductive medicine
What You’ll Bring
Demonstrated track record and passion for leading and growing a multifunctional research team in a fast-paced, dynamic organization with projects ranging from basic science to clinical development
Versatile experience with early stage discovery research across multiple therapeutics areas; experience in reproductive health is a plus
PhD in cell and/or molecular biology and 5+ years of scientific leadership experience in biotech/pharma
Experience with target identification and target validation a plus
Collaborative attitude with a strong work ethic and self-motivation
Ability to think critically and creatively
Comfort asking questions and seeking clarity, even when it is outside your main domain of expertise
Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary environment
High level of adaptability and responsiveness to technical and business opportunities and needs
Comfort handling parallel tasks, identifying key areas of focus, and delivering within fast-paced deadlines
Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts across functions
