Director, Information Technology and Data Management
Ohana is seeking an experienced biopharmaceutical Information Technology leader with deep experience leading and building an IT capability within the Life Sciences industry. Ohana firmly believes that Information Technology will be a key strategic driver of its success, and this position will directly shape that vision. This hands-on role will plan Ohana’s technology and data management, design the platform, guide the development, and manage the operation of IT for the company’s mission.
Reporting into the SVP of Platform Discovery, the successful candidate will leverage an internal team, contractors, and third-party resources, as well as plan for growth. This position will partner closely with scientific and business teams to build an integrated, cumulative, strategic data asset that leverages our laboratory and clinical trial results. This individual will play a critical role integrating business and IT by articulating highly technical concepts in business terms.
What You’ll Do
Partner with data producers and consumers to understand their needs. Ensure that IT and data management are properly prioritized, scoped, delivered and managed in support of business requirements
Prepare IT cost estimates, budgets, and schedules
Prepare and present project proposals to management and business partners
Lead and facilitate the evaluation and recommendation of technologies that satisfy business and scientific needs
Review existing scientific and business system capabilities and plans for expected growth
Serve as a champion for data quality and interoperability
Ensure reporting and analytics capabilities are properly identified, prioritized, and delivered to the scientific and business customers
Maintain an extremely strong focus on satisfying end-user needs
Stay current in technology trends including cloud computing, modern databases, application development and platforms, as well as descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
Evaluate, summarize, and present key trends that impact IT and data management
Partner with third-party vendors to acquire application technology and support services
Lead ongoing design, implementation, and execution of a top-tier data management strategy
Understand strategic objectives of the company and ensure that IT and data management directly address these objectives
What Skills You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology or Business Administration or related field
Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
Minimum 5 years leadership experience in the full lifecycle of IT systems and data management, including successful construction of enterprise-wide data assets such as data lakes or warehouses, and analytical tools that strategically leverage enterprise-wide data
Deep understanding of commercial cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google)
Solid experience in data quality and master data management
Solid experience in modern No-SQL databases
Solid experience in database administration, data security (HIPAA experience is a plus), ETL from diverse internal and third-party sources, as well as data analytics and reporting using tools such as Tableau, Spotfire, and custom web-based applications
Experience in managing laboratory information (LIMS), laboratory automation, and electronic laboratory notebooks
Solid experience in managing software development, with a strong emphasis in agile approaches
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Highly self-motivated and organized
Ability to independently make decisions and reprioritize tasks to meet deliverables
Broad IT management experience, with particular emphasis on Life Sciences-related systems delivery required
Ability to analyze complex business problems and evaluate solutions
Ability to translate complex technical issues into business terms
Strategic mindset with strong analytical foundation
